The Bannahyde Kennel came into being when Kathleen MacDonald and
her friend, Florentine Wilson, whelped a bitch named Florentine's
Camille. Camille was the product of a mother-son breeding
for the type that Kay was striving for. Camille quickly acquired
her championship and later went on to a U.D. degree in obedience.
Her progeny included show great Ch. Bannahyde's UFO O'Beechwood,
who achieved the unbelieveable show record of 12 All Breed Best
In Shows, as well as back-to-back National Speciality Best of
Breeds. Her champion get included the lovely Ch. Bannahyde's
Joie de Vivre, C.D., Ch. Bannahyde's Pierre, Mona Lisa of Bannahyde,
U.D., Ch. Bannahyde's Kendra, C.D.X., and Ch. Bannahyde's
Naomi, C.D.X. These dogs were sired by different dogs, yet
all the that certain "Bannahyde" type.
When Kay MacDonald retired as an active dog breeder she honored us by offering us the Bannahyde name, since we had been working closely with her for a number of years. (The name "Bannahyde" came from Banna Avenue, the street Kay MacDonald lived on, and the fact that she had to "hide" her dogs - thus Bannahyde.) Kay passed away a few years ago, but we have continued the bloodlines she started. The beautiful Camille appears in all of our pedigrees - usually several times.
Our foundation dog, Ch. Bannahyde's Piece of the Rock, was a Camille grandson. "Rocky" appears prominently in all of our current pedigrees.
We have two promising puppies at home now who are Rocky's grandchildren. Also, Tres Bien Rob Roy, our new little star who won major points and Best of Breed from the 6-9 month puppy class, traces his linage directly through Rocky to Camille.
